Together
Hello Reader,
What is your plan for at home preschool? If you have young ones at home or help out with the grandbabies, here's a blog post I wrote about an Easy At Home Preschool Plan: Letters, Numbers, and Bible Verses Each Week. If you don't have younger kids, forward this blog (an a coffee gift card!) to a friend!
The internet is overflowing with amazing ideas for doing simple βschoolβ at home preschool, but it can be overwhelming to sift through it all. If you're looking for a starting point thatβs simple, meaningful, and flexible, hereβs a weekly plan you can begin today, plus a free printable planning sheet to help you organize your ideas.
Real-Life Learning: My Approach
With a degree in education, many people assumed Iβd have my kids memorizing flashcards and reading novels before kindergarten. But instead of formal lessons, I leaned into play. I naturally wove in numbers, letters, and Bible verses into our daily routines while building a joyful foundation for lifelong learning and critical thinking.
Letting learning unfold through play is a beautiful thing, but a little structure can go a long way. Just like youβd stock a homework corner with sharpened pencils and paper, having a few simple resources on hand helps parents, grandparents, and caregivers build learning moments into everyday life. My goal was to create plans that were simple, flexible, and joyful.
Weekly Themes to Guide Your Week
A great way to begin is by focusing on a Letter of the Week, then pairing it with a Number and a Bible Verse. You can also layer in a general theme such as animals, seasons, or foods. There are as many ABC flashcard themes out there as there are fancy coffee drinks! (Yes, coffee-themed ABC cards existβbut they may be a bit too energized for toddlers!)
Sample Weekly Structure
Hereβs an easy structure to follow for your first week:
Letter: A
- Practice the sound of the letter A.
- Go on a scavenger hunt around the house to find things that start with A.
- Trace, paint, or shape the letter using playdough or sand.
